报道中的“one-night stand”就是“一夜情”，或者“露水之欢”。该短语常用来比喻“结合”并非为求天长地久，通常是双方在不十分了解的前提下的“性行为”，当事人也不用为对方负责。

“one-night stand”原指巡回演出剧团在某地“一夜的驻留”，“stand”本意指“停留演出，停留演出剧场”，如：to open a four-week stand（为期4周的停留演出）。随着时间的推移，俚语中常用“one-night stand”来比喻随风而逝的“爱”。
