以上句中的th, v 以及afraid what about的连读等，发音较难，要反复带读，练习。
教学过程：

出示课文的挂图，指着男售货员和顾客余虹。自问自答，然后请回答：
who is the man? he is the salesman.
who is the girl? she is yu hong.
由这两个问答引入课文发生的场景：
一天下午，余虹到一家文具店习铅笔盒，售货员先和余虹打招呼，售货员介绍，余虹挑选并询问价钱：

salesman: good afternoon. can i help you?
yu hong: yes, i want a pencil-box.
salesman: this one is very nice.
yu hong: how much?
salesman: ten yuan.
yu hong: too dear, i'm afraid.
salesman: what about this one.
it's only five yuan.
