read the compass (指南针) on a map. "n" is north. 想一想，s代表哪个方向？还有e和w呢？
what is scale (比例尺)?
the little ruler can tell you the distance (距离). 量出地图上的距离，再乘以比例尺上的长度，就是实际距离了。
what are these symbols?
地图上有许多花花绿绿的小图标。a small box explains (解释) all these symbols. it's the map key (图例).
