办公室英语口语谬误(2)：She Is Expecting_办公英语

she is expecting.
她怀孕了。

（王小姐和吉娜正看在公司圣诞派对时拍摄的照片。）

jenny: barb is doing so well. you know she is expecting in may.
芭比一切都很顺利，在五月。

ms.wang: what is she expecting?
她究竟在期待什么啊？

jenny: she told me that she decided not to have it tested. only god knows.
她说不去检验这个项目，这大概只有天知道吧！

（王小姐被弄得更糊涂了！）

【note】
王小姐不知道“expecting”也有“怀孕”的意思。吉妮也没有发现这一点，以为王小姐说“在期待什么”是在问“是男孩还是女孩”。“test”是指判断婴儿性别的产检。
