《廊桥遗梦》：你采的花是有毒的！_影视英语

　选自电影《廊桥遗梦》(the bridges of madison country)。罗伯特（robert）是漂泊四方的摄影师，弗朗西斯卡（francesca）已经是两个孩子的有夫之妇。两个中年人四天四夜的缠绵恩爱就萌发在麦迪逊乡间的廊桥上，francesca开了个善意的玩笑……

　r: i was picking you some flowers. men still do that, don't they? i'm not out of date, am i? picking flowers for a woman as a sign of appreciation?
　　f: no. except those are poisonous.
(robert threw the flowers)
　　f: (laugh) i'm kidding. i'm sorry. i'm just kidding. i'm so sorry.
　　r: are you sadistic by nature?
　　f: (laugh) i don't know why i did that. they're beautiful.

　《国家》杂志社的记者robert驱车赶往麦迪逊乡间的廊桥，向francesca问路。francesca好意坐上他的车为他领路。

　在廊桥边，robert给francesca采了一束野花，一边递给她一边问，是不是按照时尚风俗，男人们仍然要采花给女人，这是一个欣赏她的表示（a sign of appreciation），他是否过时了。短语out of date是固定搭配，意思是过时的，陈旧的。

　francesca假装一脸严肃的样子，回答他，不，采花的风尚犹存。但是，那些有毒的花（poisonous）是例外。她指的就是robert手中的那一把野花。robert一下子真的相信了，一撒手，花全掉在地上了。

　影片中，接下来就是francesca像小孩子恶作剧得逞一样，放声大笑，笑弯了腰，笑得流出了眼泪。她忙着解释，她只是在哄他（kid，哄骗，欺骗），这只是个玩笑，这些花真漂亮。robert也笑了，笑自己的轻信，笑francesca的纯真，他也开玩笑地说francesca，你天生（by nature）是虐待狂（sadistic）吧。
