You say you got your baby where?_英文原版
oh, my, madonna has adopted a one-year-old boy from malawi, the southern african country. or has she? there have been denials from her people but it's not so unbelievable, is it?
the 48-year-old is in malawi this week visiting orphanages. it had been reported that 12 children were "selected", from which she would choose a little brother for her children lourdes, nine, and rocco, six.
madonna wouldn't be the first. by now, developing countries have already seen american celebrities dropping by to pick up a child like going to a convenience store.
"it's a very special thing," angelina jolie has claimed. "there's something about travelling somewhere and finding your family."
the actress adopted her son, maddox, four, in cambodia and her daughter, zahara, 18 months, in ethiopia. not to be outdone, jolie has talked about adopting again, from another country.
"we're looking at different countries," she told cnn. "it's going to be a balance of what would be the best for mad and for z right now."
ok, adopting abroad can be praised. but, one can't help feeling that picking up a poor but good-looking child is more about a celebrity's image.
in fact, there are many children in america who are waiting to be adopted.
so why go abroad?
"children who are waiting to be adopted in this country will be older [the average age is four]. they may have emotional or behavioural difficulties," said a spokesperson for oasis, a group run by families who have adopted foreign kids.
and the us adoption process usually takes at least two years.
if madonna does bring a baby boy back from malawi with her, one thing is sure: it will be captured by photographers everywhere. the child had better get used to it.
but until the media loose their interest, the adopted kid will always be known as "madge's adopted son", while her biological child will always be referred to as "her child".
