First national wetland park in the Yellow River valley found
the wetland resource is relatively abundant in yinchuan, ningxia, covering an area of 47 thousand hectares, or one fifth of the total wetland area of ningxia hui autonomous region. (file/ningxia daily) chinanews, yinchuan, sept. 26 – the yinchuan national wetland park was founded on sept. 25--the third national wetland park founded by the state forestry bureau (sfb) in china, and the first one in the yellow river valley. the first two national wetland parks are located in hangzhou, zhejiang province and zhenhu, jiangsu province respectively.
zhao xuemin, vice director of sfb, said the crucial wetland resources had been discovered in the yellow river valley years ago, covering an area of 2.8 million hectares. china would restore wetlands surrounding the yellow river and its water-storing functions in order to hold back desertification in the northwestern region.
the wetland resource is relatively abundant in yinchuan, ningxia, covering an area of 47 thousand hectares, or one fifth of the total wetland area of ningxia hui autonomous region. in last june, sfb decided to launch an experimental project in yinchuan wetland park and divided it into two administrative areas, including yuehai wetland park with 117 plants and 107 birds and mingcui lake wetland park, which together will form a network of reeds in the near future.
experts believe the mingcui lake wetland park demonstrates some geographic characteristics of the southeastern region. most migratory birds like to choose the place as their habitat.
